In an exciting new venture, The Integral Factor has teamed up with Project Hospitality to offer free once a week walk-in tutoring sessions in Math, English, Social Studies, ESL and Coding (Python) on Saturdays from 2p-4:30p at the St George New York Public Library in Staten Island. Taught by our expert tutors, these classes are conducted in the supportive and respectful manner that characterize all Integral Factor initiatives and services.
This collaboration provides a space for children to explore new interests, address gaps from regular schooling, and make meaningful connections with dedicated tutors, peers and the broader community. The collaboration also provides access to a variety of educational materials and technology, including laptops, tablets, software, textbooks and stationery.
Asked to describe the benefits of similar programs offered in the past, one participant said: “with the laptop you gave me, I can do homework at home and practice (your) coding and cryptography lessons.” Another explained: “I’m interested in Journalism and how English can help me do that.” And a third said, “We miss our tutor sessions!” after moving.
Even as the program in its current form continues every Saturday, there are plans for expanded offerings in future iterations. These include: complete end-to-end ESL and Coding programs for all ages and populations; longer term projects to help students prepare for college admissions and job search; activities and exercises designed to help develop students EQ along with cognitive aptitude; financial planning and management to help students afford their higher education.
The goal is to provide a larger group of students with resources to navigate today’s educational institutions and job market, and provide them with the skills to achieve their professional goals and a meaningful and fulfilling life.
